HAPPY WORLD PENGUIN DAY!!!!!!
According to Google, it is also “Hug a plumber day”.
If your plumber happens to be a penguin, can can kill two birds with one stone. Oh…maybe “kill” and “birds” shouldn’t be used in this context! Speaking of birds, the hummingbirds were visiting my Dad’s feeder today. A LOT! They were hungry. (I never get tired of watching these guys)
And here today, it is National “What the hell is THAT??? day”. (I made that up) But there is an ongoing effort to identify a
late fish that I found on a mini beach walk I took this afternoon. The sun caught the silver of this guy, which drew me to him. He was obviously deceased, but couldn’t have been gone long because I would assume he’d have been eaten by birds if he was.
ANYWAY…we can’t find an identity for it in my Dad’s books, and by googling coastal British Columbia fishes. We are stumped, so if any of you know, or know someone who may know that would be appreciated. Freaky little thing isn’t he?
Before I went for my walk this afternoon, I ran a couple of errands, and had a quick haircut (it was driving me crazy, and I had to reschedule an appointment back home I’d made for last week). I also grabbed a couple of sale cookbooks. I’ll be here for a few more days, but once I’m home and back in my own kitchen, I’ll have some new recipes to share. Stay tuned.
Here are some shots from my walk….come with me!
I think the log in the background looks like a seagull floating in the water.
There weren’t too many dogs playing on the beach….
..but there were TONS of shells/rocks/bugs/creature parts (and of course, the mystery fish above) to see.
Interesting “decorations”/patterns and closeups of a boat launch along the wall by the beach.
And finally, I found four “hearts” today, 2 rocks, a shell and one carved into the sand by someone who was on the beach before I was.
Have a GREAT weekend everyone!!!
