Today’s Photo A Day Challenge prompt is “From My Childhood”. I posted this picture of my beloved Teddy Shore.
Teddy went EVERYWHERE with me when I was little…and has been tucked away in a box for DECADES, with other photos and memorabilia from my past.
Best Teddy Shore story…..we were camping one summer, I was probably 3 or 4 (Mom, Dad, correct me if I’m wrong on that), left Teddy outside, a BIG rainstorm came, I realized Teddy was missing, caused a massive fuss, and instead of saying ‘we’ll find him in the morning’, my Dad, heroic Dad that he is, went out in the dark in torrential rains while my Mom tried to settle me down, he found Teddy, but by the time he came back all proud of finding the wet toy, I was fast asleep. Thanks Mom and Dad!!!! 40 odd years later….
While I was retrieving Teddy for the photo, I found a few other photos that I’ll share. This is the house I grew up in. It is in Calgary, and as you can see, it was winter. Special note in this photo…the black mailbox by the door….it’s the mailbox my tongue stuck to when I licked it one winter day. I was a curious child…
This is my Brownie Troupe…..The lady with the glasses in the blue hat at the back was our leader, “Brown Owl”. She is the woman who told us that when there is thunder, there is nothing to be afraid of…it’s angels bowling. Can you find me in this shot?
Here I am…..with a disinterested child on my right, and a disinterested dog on my left.
I remember feeling fetching in this denim romper short thingy.
This very weathered and faded shot is me at about age 10….with our wonderful dog Pepper. We had him for about 16 years (I think) and he was a fantastic member of our family. What isn’t fantastic. Wide wale purple corduroy pants. Again, I felt quite fetching in them at the time. Even scarier though….not only did I have purple cords, my brother also had the same pants. Oh dear!! I think that was the only “his and her” outfits I was ever (or will be) a part of. Thank God!! LOL!!!
And finally, you’ll see my questionable taste in bottoms continued as the years past. Not only do I seem to be giving poor Pepper a choke hold in this shot, it looks like I’m wearing a pair of white granny panties. Pretty sure they were shorts…but OMG…..
Anyway….enough of that, time to leave the past behind and give a recap on the present. This was my day.
Breakfast this morning was a bagel thin with light cream cheese, sub par smoked salmon trim (I got this in a different store than usual) and capers.
During the morning, I had a few cheese bunny cracker thingies that we got on a promotion on the weekend.
Lunch was a kale salad with nutritional yeast, light feta, a nectarine and a few low sugar craisins, with a cup of the lentil/carrot/yam soup I made last night. I also had a little pack of freeze dried strawberries.
Before yoga, I had a hard boiled egg.
And after yoga, we had taco salads for dinner. (the meat was on shredded lettuce. It was ground bison cooked with onion, garlic, tomato sauce and taco seasoning, and it was topped with some light sour cream, grated cheddar, cilantro (Sorry Suz! ) 1/3 avocado, salsa and a bit of crumbled taco shell.
I was so lucky when I walked to yoga. I happened to be out when it was “between storms”. It’s actually still quite warm, and the walk was lovely.
These grasses won’t be green much longer.
“lost” is a four “legged” word too….I hope the owner of this bag finds it.
Crazy clouds of many colors….
The storm from had an interesting curve.
But the weather didn’t deter the boaters.
I like the reflection of this woman.
This boy got a BIT overconfident in his boat….
Quite the “rescue” but all ended well…..
No matter how hard you try, you can’t pull the side of a walkway.
What an odd shaped head this man has. Hey buddy, why the long face??? OMG….feel free to groan….
On that very, very silly note….that’s Monday. I’m calling it a night! Hope everyone’s week has started off on a bright note.
