…you may want to close your eyes for the second to last photo. Just a heads up!
Today’s Photo A Day Challenge prompt is “My Name Begins With….”. Dennis carved this “R” into wet sand on a beach we were walking on today. It took care of the prompt, and was also a pretty romantic gesture. Thank you Dennis!
We started our day out at our sister in law, niece and nephew’s home for brunch. This is Holly, Katie and Ryan…..with Lucy the dog, who thinks she’s a cat.
Dennis was letting Lucy know that she is Number one!
Brunch was DELICIOUS! Thank you Holly!!! We had mimosas, baked french toast, bacon, muffins and fruit.
After brunch, we had a little change of plans, so had some time on our hands. We decided to stop in at Stanley Park, which was on our way home. This is the beach Dennis carved my “R” in.
There was a bagpiper on the seawall, we’re not really sure why, and here is the statue of runner Harry Jerome.
We parked the car beside a meadow of dandelions…..
….and went for a walk into the park itself.
We saw some signs….a lying salmon crossing sign – there were NO salmon, a whimsical sign saying all plants in the park are native to the area, and it would seem that beer, soft drinks and coffee are offerings for the security. Not really….
I’ve decided this man feeding some ducks’ name is “Don”. This is the crack of Don.
We patted the horses drawing the trollies around the park. AWWW. I don’t usually like horses, but these two were VERY gentle and really liked having their noses scratched. They have lovely eyelashes too.
I am Katie and Ryan’s…..
There is a big jellyfish exhibit at the Aquarium. We didn’t have time to actually go in, but Dennis did a stellar “swimming with the jellyfish” move. I should have taken a video because his hands were flapping…my husband is talented, no?
These look like little paw prints in a pond, but they’re shadows of bugs. Weird…
We weren’t the only people at play in the park today.
We drove by the mermaid on a rock on the way out of the park.
While we were in the park, our friend Clint texted to see if we could help him with a kale “problem” he has in his garden. THANK YOU CLINT!!!! For the kale, carrots and basil!!
Clint’s garden is GORGEOUS!!!
Clint and I decided to venture out afterward to see if we could get some end of season blackberries. It was tough picking and most of the berries have either been picked, have dried or aren’t yet ripe.
Clint is hard core! Look how close to the water he was.
Not particularly successful in the pick, but being down by the river was really nice.
There were HUGE spiders all over the blackberry bushes. Turn away if you are scared…but check them out if you’re not. They’re actually quite beautiful.
When I got home, I was surprised that Dennis was there as he was supposed to be out at band practice. They had a last minute change of plans….so we toasted the end of the long weekend with a glass of wine, and had some grilled chicken and leftover grilled veggie salad for dinner.
That’s it for the weekend, and unofficially, that’s it for summer too. Oh well, autumn is nice….bring on the pumpkin! Have a great week everyone!!
