HOW can 2013 be sailing by so quickly?? How can my life be sailing by so quickly? Whoa…that was a bit deep philosophical for a Sunday of a long weekend so will leave the questions alone for now.
On a bright note, we have a whole new month of Photo A Day Challenge prompts to play with. (I missed a few days in August ’cause life got in the way) Today’s prompt is “together”. I pulled this photo out of the weightingfor50 archives. Aww…doesn’t get much more together than two little goslings forming a heart.
I should also preface today’s recap by declaring “I am NOT a poster girl for weight watchers point counting today”. There…I said it. And I’m ok with it!
I made birds in a nest for breakfast, reheated some leftover turkey sausages and had one, made hash browns with leftover potatoes from last night’s picnic, and also had some fruit.
After brunch, I had plans to go and pick some end of season blackberries, then go to yoga. Um…I had a nap. There were no blackberries, downward facing or otherwise in my day. Oh well..must have needed it.
When I finally got my “you know what” together, Dennis and I went down to the Gastown area of the city to check out a bbq festival (neither of us were hungry, so we didn’t partake, but it was fun to watch the serious mopping and spicing that was going on), to watch some live music and to have a walkabout in the area. This is “Maybe Marley” and they are a Bob Marley tribute band that rehearse in the same rehearsal space that Dennis and his band do.
Apparently, I have a bit of a fixation on faces in buildings.
Bike racks and not a bike in them. Odd, because there were A LOT of people in the area on bikes. Hmm…
Cute sign…just a day late for International Bacon Day.
These were in the same window. Never in my wildest dreams would I buy them, but they did crack me up.
Also in a store window….solar head bobbing sushi, a solar wiggling sumo wrestler, and the most horrific Canadian souvenir bobble heads ever. I want them! KIDDING…
Walking jazzy minstrels. (they were GOOD!)
We ended up in a “vintage clothing store” at one point. Not sure if the nordic horns could be considered “vintage”, and not to toot my own horn, but I wore them well!
The shoe sign looked sad and lonely on the street, so I put my shoes beside it for the photo.
Speaking of sidewalks….
Awww…..what a fluffy little gps in this car….
‘Munky Munk”? “Doodles” feels bad…you’d better call….
Love the old and new buildings in one shot….
Wall murals with Simpsons characters….
I like this angel lifting a soldier statue.
Doris, should we get some of these shirts for our workplace? And instead of going for coffee we should go for wine? Ha! Guess not….
We decided to stop for a quick beer, I had the flight….one apple cider (really good), one “seed spitter” which had watermelon flavours (not my favorite) and an IPA.
While we were sitting on the patio, a wedding party came by, stopped traffic and had photo shoot while linking arms and walking across the road. Check out the giant Frankenstein shoes on the bridesmaid on the right.
On the way home, we stopped for soft serve ice cream because we hadn’t had that….since yesterday.
As I mentioned, today I am not a poster girl for weight watchers. When we got home we had cheese and crackers and because a beer flight wasn’t enough, I made watermelon margaritas too. And I had two.
Dinner tonight was some tortellini with vegetable sauce and grated Parmesan, and a bun with garlic.
I would say there is a very good possibility that in a while I will have a piece of berry/apple pie that was bought for us as a gift the other day.
YAY for holiday Monday tomorrow – bonus days are good!
