Isn’t that a poetic title???
Today’s Photo a Day prompt is “In the background”. I posted this pic with a chain link fence and barbed wire…with a dilapidated building and the city in the background.
And just have a funny story to share. Fairly regularly, I get offers in my inbox to write a guest post for my blog, seeing if I’m interested in advertising, or wondering if I’d mention and link to on an on line articles that the writer thinks weightingfor50 readers may be interested. All very flattering. I don’t monetize this blog in any way (though maybe I should) so USUALLY politely decline and carry on. Yesterday, I got this note in my inbox…..
I found your blog through web searching & just wanted to inform you, we recently published an article titled “7 STRATEGIES FOR FORGETFUL FOLKS” that I was hoping you might consider sharing with your blog readers.
UM…web searching for middle aged bloggers who forget to put gas in their car??? In that case, I’m your girl!! I get the offers for healthy living tips, but forgetful people? HA!!!! If I remember, I’ll reply.
We move on to the day….this morning I was still feeling VERY draggy so I “opted out”. I opted out of early yoga, I opted out of weight watchers, I opted out at building more raised beds in the community garden (more on that in a sec) and gave myself the gift of sleep instead. I’ve also given myself the gift of some iron supplements so hopefully this fatigue that I’ve had for the last couple of weeks passes soon.
When I eventually hauled my a*& out of bed, I made us birds in a nest, which we had with coffee and fruit. I cut out the bread with a heart shaped cutter. You may all vomit now!
The clouds in this photo that I took from our deck really were beautiful.
Then, I did go down to the community garden site to say I’d be there next weekend, and also pay my annual fee. It was again a hive of activity.
THIS is our actual raised bed! OOOH!!!!!
I COULD make a joke about “this is my box” but that would be childish. Oh…I am childish. “This is my box”. :) I then did some grocery shopping and ran a few errands.
This afternoon, the “main drag” not far from our home had a little street celebration, so Dennis and I went down and walked around to support our local merchants and see some of our neighbors.
There were stages with musicians all along the road…..
…BMX demonstrations (these guys are crazy!)……
…street food….we had the mini hotdogs at the “dogs for dogs” stand…which benefited Westcoast Assistance Dogs.
There were roaming stilt walkers…..
Photobomb! This guy felt so bad that he walked in front when I was taking a shot of Dennis with the stilt walker! Funny…
LIMBO!!! How low can you go????
The stiltwalker could get VERY low. This woman has some SERIOUSLY strong legs!!
…We got our “dog fix”…
..the Great Dane had prettier toenails than I do.
As a matter of fact, yes I do….
There was a charactature artist…..
….and a street market with very charismatic vendors.
We also walked down to City Hall and saw the gardens (including an established community garden) around it. This is a statue of Captain Vancouver, who the city is named after. Pull my finger!
And pull Dennis’ finger too! (see? I AM childish)
NOOOO….I’m not ready for all foliage. NOOOO!!!
Here are some other shots I took in the area.
When we got back we had a glass of white wine, and some crunchmaster crackers with spinach/kale dip.
Dinner tonight was curried turkey burgers with potato salad (made with light mayo, celery and relish) and corn.
What is happening in YOUR neighborhood this weekend?
