I had today off of work, and had a date with my good friend Kathy. Before we met, I had a bagel thin with light cream cheese and smoked salmon.
We decided today was just the first stop on “Kathy and Roz’s Excellent Adventure Tour 2013″. T-shirts with tour dates and locations will be available soon! HA! Not.
We had a few pits stops to make, the first took us to a store with a HUGE shoe clearance. Check out the swanky red shoes that Kathy got. These were marked down less than the price of a pair of tights, so why resist the “temptation of the red”. They are HOT!!
I had less luck actually purchasing shoes but tried on a few pair for fun. These were the most “eye catching” I tried on. They’re particularly lovely with the black tights I was wearing, I know. And apparently my Frankenstein walk while wearing them was also alluring. NOT! I’m 5’6″, and with these on, I was well over 6′.
Not only are they footwear not suited to my style, they were weapons. Look at the spikes going down the back. Yikes! I’m quite proud of the fact that I was able to stand in the first ballet position to model the spikes without falling flat on my face.
After the shoe madness, we went to a new to us both thrift store on the hunt for “who knows what”? Equally as fashionable as the spiky shoes was this moose hat. To clarify, the moose was not purchased.
We also “modeled” some valentine’s day bras for our husbands. To clarify, the bras were not purchased either, and yes, we are adults.
We then moved on (with much more decorum) to a FANTASTIC antique/consignment store.
I REALLY wanted to wipe the chalkboard clean and replace it with “weightingfor50.com”. Kidding…well, not kidding that I wanted to do that, but NEVER would.
If anyone in Vancouver is in need of a used red canoe, I know where you can get one.
Loved the sign, and the table that it was on. (I really need to get on the Downton Abbey train)
We also visited Persian, Indian and Italian markets for ingredients for upcoming recipes. I LOVE ethnic food markets. I have NO idea what half of the products are, but so fun to look.
We went for lunch afterward, I had a muddled blackberry, mint, ginger, lemonade and soda drink (I think it is called a “ginger fizz”) and the tuna tataki.
Cheers to us Kathy, and to trying on MANY more shoes and hats together again soon!
Dennis and I were passing in the night again tonight. He had pizza for dinner, I had a bite.
And I had leftover pumpkin risotto and cauliflower “bread” dipped in marinara sauce.
That’s it for my Friday. I’m off to relax a bit and watch the new season of “Touch”. Rumour has it its a little more “24″ and less “feel good” like it was last year. OOOH!!! Keifer Sutherland, here I come. Have a GREAT weekend all!!!

Those shoes are so awesome – but there’s no way I could walk in them!

Those shoes are pretty, but they just look so uncomfortable! I wish I could wear heels like that, because my calves look awesome.
Happy weekend, Roz!

Looks like you and Kathy had a great day! And what fabulous shoes!! So what if they hurt? Those are bitchin’ shoes, my friend… and might even be worth the pain. You could wear them to work, just sitting at your desk! If you had to actually walk around you could slip on your more comfortable shoes. I’d consider it.
Underwear at a thrift store? Sounds sketchy to me… who would a) donate their used undies and b) buy someone else’s used undies??? Better to just admire those from afar!! Have a great long long weekend, girlie! See you next week.

What a fun, fun shopping day! I would have been all over both pairs of those shoes. That fizz drink you had looks and sounds delicious and refreshing (normally I’m a water person).
