Seems that the majority of North American groundhogs DIDN’T see their shadows today, so I’m going to take that as a sign of an early spring for us all!   According to today’s news, this is the most “celebrated Canadian Groundhog” Wiarton Willie.

Is it me, or do I see a resemblance to Willie and Neva.

Same white coat, same pink nose, same fluffy paws.  Because we don’t seem to have a resident Vancouver Groundhog, next February 2nd, we’re going to promote “Spring Sniffin’ Neva”, put her on the window sill (she can’t go out, she’s deaf, and we live on the 4th floor of a condo – both recipes for disaster if she went outside) and we’ll do our own local weather prediction!  :)

In yesterday’s post, I set out some goals for myself for February.   The 5 lb loss in February goal?  Mission Accomplished.  I was down 5.6 lbs when I stepped on the weight watchers scale today.  (Melisa and I walked there for an activity point) There were all kinds of factors that played in the gain last week, so I wasn’t surprised that the scale went down, though I can’t lie, it was a bit more of a drop than I’d expected.  Hopefully the momentum keeps up and I’ll lose ANOTHER 5 lbs by the end of February.   A lb or so a week?  That’ll suite me just fine.

Can’t say I have too many interesting photos and stories to share today, it was a quiet “status quo” and errand running Saturday.  I should have some more interesting photos tomorrow, so for today, I’ll just show you my point friendly menu and we’ll call it a night.

Breakfast was an almond milk latte, two mini pieces of raisin toast with fig butter and an orange. I also had a smoothie with almond milk, a banana and frozen blueberries.

Lunch was a sandwich thin with herb mustard, a tomato, cucumber, fresh basil and some prosciutto.  (I buy the prosciutto ends from the deli, they’re MUCH cheaper and come in small servings)

Dennis attended a “boy’s night” scotch/food pairing evening at a friend’s place tonight.  We did some research on the type of scotch he took and it said it went well with dark chocolate.  So I made a dark chocolate mousse for him to take.  This is NOT a point friendly recipe, but I licked the spatula and bowl (and tracked it).  I don’t like scotch at all, so I’d pass on that, but I could sure eat a few spoonfuls of this!

Since Dennis is out (we haven’t eaten together since Wednesday, it’s been one of those weeks, but we’ll be sitting down together more often next week) I poured a glass of wine and made “picky dinner” for myself.  I’d picked up this small piece of cranberry Wensleydale cheese in the “ends” bin at the deli, and had some dolmades, hummus, cucumber, olives and a mini naan as well.

Spring Sniffin’ Neva and I are going to relax now, we have an early start in the morning so are calling it a night.  Hope all of your weekends started out well, and hope there was no groundhog shadow in your neck of the woods too.  Bring on the spring.
