Today, I’ll refrain from further discussion about my ongoing albeit slowly improving head cold. That is becoming old and boring news. Instead, I’m going to share something I noticed today which is pretty exciting. Well, in the big scheme of the week anyway.
I’ve been walking home from work in the dark for what seems like months. Tonight….check this out. Sun on the city, and light in the sky! Could spring be far around the corner??? (I’m choosing to think it isn’t, however, I’m not naive enough to think there won’t be plenty of gray darkness here before spring arrives) Still…YAY!!!
But that was after work. Before work, I met Michelle for our Wednesday early morning coffee. Here is her famous hand hoisting her tea. Cheers!
I had breakfast at my desk; berries, greek yogurt and granola.
I had a hard-boiled egg for my morning snack. I tried without success to get the duck to actually sit on the egg. (it was a pretty busy morning, so I didn’t have lots of time to persevere)
Lunch was a massaged kale salad with dried cranberries, a few pecans, fat-free feta and nutritional yeast. I also had an orange on the side.
My afternoon snack was a mug of Michelle and Gary’s Christmas soup. It was very soothing.
Dinner was a “use what we had on hand” meal. I had some lean ground beef in the freezer, a jar of marinara sauce in the cupboard, onions, carrots, celery, garlic, spinach and an eggplant in the crisper, so I made that into a ragu, and served it on top of some polenta. I also sprinkled 1 tbsp fat-free feta on top (because we didn’t have any Parmesan)
That’s Wednesday. I don’t really have any profound words of wisdom to close with tonight, so I’ll let this cartoon that was sent to me today do the “talking” for me.

Glad you’re feeling better, Roz.
Let’s hear it for the light – I’m ready for some longer daylight.

Glad to hear you’re feeling better, it looks like you’ve blown it across the ocean because now I have a head cold.
I look forward to more daylight too, at least we have had the shortest day behind us and from here it’s getting better day by day.

Yep, I noticed it too that it’s getting lighter – woop!! We will have temps near 50 tomorrow and Saturday, then a cold front hits – hopefully with no snow!
Feel better!

Your salad looks delicious. I’m currently on a salad kick and eat them at lunch at work every day. Can’t get enough!

I start to notice the difference in light this time of year, too, and it fills me with hope. (It helps that we’ve had very mild temps this week.)
that last cartoon has my name all over it.

The trumpet of a prophecy! O Wind,
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

So happy it’s staying light a wee bit later. The mornings are still awfully dark though
