“Hey Neva….your head is looking a little bare!”
“MOM! STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!”
I may be going to “pet owner hell” for attempting this. Oh well…sorry Neva! heh, heh….
First thing this morning, I chose mascots that would somehow be appropriate to close out the year. I decided on the glass ducks, as I feel I have all my ducks in a row and am ready to take on all that 2013 has to offer.
They were posing with a piece of the leftover mini baguette from yesterday with light cream cheese and 1/3 avocado.
Later in the morning I had a piece of blue menu banana bread.
After running the last errands of 2012, I came home and had a pita bread with white bean dip (also purchased at Granville Island yesterday)
Dennis and I had some cheese and crackers when he got home from work. He had a glass of wine too, but I’m the designated driver tonight so I didn’t join him for a cheers. That’ll come later.
We rung in the new year with our good friends Janice and Alan (at their place)…
…and Ken and Karen.
Just so we are all included on this post….here we are.
Also at the party were Janice’s kitties Gus and Zack. Zack was very very excited!
We had a Mardi Gras theme, so we were all given beads, and the menu was cajun. We took crab stuffed jalapenos for the appies.
Janice made us a rum based cocktail to start.
We then had crab cakes with salad, seafood gumbo with garlic bread, and bananas foster (with frozen yogurt) OMG…what a feast! Hours later, I’m still very full.
I drank alcohol free “wine” (aka: white grape juice) because I was the designated driver.
Dennis and Alan were showing off their beads…
And so were Ken and I….
We counted down to midnight….
.had a sip of, and a toast with prosecco.
..ensured Janice and Alan would have good luck this year by having the first person to enter their home be dark haired. (we couldn’t remember who told us that…)
Shortly thereafter we called it a night. Happy 2013 to all!!!!! May all our wishes and dreams come true in the coming year!!!

Happy New Year. The tradition of the person with dark hair being first through the door is called “First Footing”. I think it’s a Scottish thing.

Just me or does Neva look like she has a hangover?
The look on your face in the pic with the beads on your head is PRICELESS. You should print and frame it. Ditto the one of Dennis and Alan. Fine looking group of friends!
I am curious about what the food is above the bananas foster.
