Today’s new word is “apophoret” – a gift given to celebrate a new year

Happy Hump Day, and Happy LEAP Day!!!   Dennis’ buddy Dave is 44, but actually 11 today….how fun that we actually know someone who was a leap baby!  Dave, may your leaping cup of apophorets runneth over!!

We woke up, as expected to a good dump of heavy wet snow this morning.   Neva blended right in with her “kingdom” as she looked out the window! :)

I had an appointment this morning, so couldn’t meet Michelle as I normally do on a Wednesday.  We’ll ALL miss her famous hand today, so “guest hand” has kindly stood in for hers.  Guest Hand started the day out beside my cup of chai with almond milk.

While I was out and about, I took some photos of some poor spring plants that were semi-buried under the morning snow.

I toted breakfast and my morning snack with me and ate it when I got to work.  It was a bagel thin, a hard-boiled egg and a cup of blueberries.

There was apparently an electrical explosion in a building on the block I work in.  There were TONS of folks out on the street watching the happenings.  Traffic was blocked off, but pedestrians were all fine to walk about.   Thankfully, nobody was hurt, and it was a big drama that didn’t turn out to be as big as it first seemed.  (and you can also see that the snow had turned to rain by the afternoon)

I had planned on grabbing a quick soup/sandwich from my favorite little healthy deli hole in the wall, and I was really sad to see that it had closed its doors.  Such a shame!!  I settled for a low carb (not that I’m carb averse at ALL, but having a “wrap” as a “bowl” does knock down the points) veggie bowl with brown rice, black beans, lots of vegetables, yogurt and some avocado sauce.

Later in the afternoon, I had a few red grapes and a light cheese stick.

And a few kale chips.

Dinner tonight was some lean meatballs we had in the freezer cooked with blue menu plum sauce, served on top of some steamed zucchini, snow peas and carrots and 1/2 cup each brown rice.

That’s it for February.  Hard to believe we will be into March already.  2012 is flying by!
