Yesterday, I promised photos, recipes and links of my “Autumn Martha” kitchen spree last night!   As promised, here we go….(Jody, you don’t have to wait any longer! :) )

I made a batch of Dennis’ favorite lemon/blueberry muffins.  I’ve put the recipe on the recipe page.  It is from my book “Eating Light, Eating Right” by Shauna Ratner and Frances Johnson.  Both authors are dietitians for the Healthy Heart program at a hospital here in Vancouver.  The muffins are very good and work out to 5 WW points + each.

When I was in Victoria last week, we were given some pears that were actually from a tree in the yard of friends of my parents.   There weren’t quite enough for a batch of pear butter, so I poached them with spices in the crock pot.   I don’t have a recipe for these, it is simply peeled cored pears in water with a “dump” of masala tea spice and simmered for a couple of hours until they were tender. 

And finally, I made my first batch of baked oatmeal.  I am SO excited to have found a new healthy recipe blog, Emilybites.com.  This recipe is from her site, the link on her name takes you right to it – pumpkin, cranberry and apple baked oatmeal. 

I can’t wait to try a few more of Emily’s recipes, looks like there are some wonderful ideas on there and I encourage you to check it out if you haven’t already!  Thanks Emily!!!

So that was all yesterday, we move on to this morning.  For breakfast, I had a piece of the baked oatmeal with a sliced banana and some sugar-free syrup.  So good, and I was full for hours.  I’ll say it again “thanks Emily!”.

I also had a cup of chai tea.

My work had an earthquake drill this morning.  Once a year or so we are reminded of what to do and not to do if the ‘big one” arrives.  We all had to dive under our desk for a few minutes when the alarm sounded.  I took my coffee down with me and have to say, it’s pretty cozy down there! :)  Duck and cover!!!  I’m ready for the shake (coffee will be optional in the event of a real emergency)!!! 

After the ducking, covering and nesting below my desk (OH…THERE is that lipstick I lost!!  And there was something that I think used to be a grape but wasn’t quite a raisin there too.  Gross!), I returned to the normal seated position and had some pieces of the spiced pears from last night.

My friend Andrea came and took me out for a belated birthday sushi lunch today.  THANKS ANDREA!!!!!  I think this winds up all birthday celebrations for this year.  I’m a lucky girl.  Today, I had miso soup, a California roll, a spicy tuna roll and a vegetable roll but none had a  birthday candle :).

Later in the afternoon I had an apple festival Golden Gala.

I met up for a quick catch up with my friend Laura after work.  (it’s been a very social week)  We went for Pumpkin Spice Lattes.   Great to see you Laura, see you again soon!

I was a bit hungry when I got home, so had a few of these Chip Ins. 

And because it was later than normal, we quickly whipped up Breakfast for Dinner.  Scrambled eggs, turkey sausages and 2 pieces of thin, high fibre toast.  Yum.  Breakfast for dinner really hits the spot sometimes!  Do you ever have breakfast for dinner? 

YAY for tomorrow being Friday.  And YAY for weigh in.  I’m not sure what to expect, because my home scale says things have been holding steady.  I WILL be wearing denim tomorrow (casual Friday is in full force) so time will tell too how that affects the number on the scale vs. the thin little skirt I’ve worn for the last few weigh ins.  Whatever it is, is….and it’s a bright new weight watchers week tomorrow.
